Auto Technology

The Auto Technology program offers practical instruction in the diagnosis, adjustment and repair of various types of motor vehicles. The curriculum includes a complete range of training relative to gasoline engines, clutches, transmissions, differentials, front-axle and wheel suspension, front end alignment, steering mechanics, brakes, engine performance and fuel and electric systems. Special emphasis is given to troubleshooting, motor tune-ups, and the complete overhaul of engines by replacing rings, bearings, valves, gaskets and other worn parts. Such repairs and operations require an understanding of mechanical theories. Class notes, repair manuals, textbooks and computer skills are important support components of this program. Students are being trained for entry-level employment in privately owned, auto dealership, and national chain auto repair shops and centers. Pennsylvania Automobile Inspector certification is available to students who graduate from this program. At program completion, the student is awarded a diploma.
